During the event, the results of an anonymous, comprehensive online survey titled "Resilience and Well-Being of Ukrainian Media Workers under Martial Law" were presented. The survey was conducted in December 2025 – January 2026 and involved 349 media professionals from all regions of Ukraine.
Its purpose was to assess the safety, well-being, and professional resilience of journalists working under the conditions of a full-scale war.
Key findings:
- Over 40% of media professionals reported a deterioration in their physical and psychological health over the past year
- Journalists noted a decline in emotional resources, cognitive concentration, and changes in behavioral patterns
- Workload is not adequately balanced by recovery, increasing the risk of professional burnout
At the same time, despite the extremely challenging circumstances, more than half of respondents reported feeling supported by colleagues and management, and nearly two-thirds expressed pride in their work — reflecting a high level of intrinsic motivation and professional commitment.
The event was moderated and the survey findings were presented by Hanna Davydenko, Doctor of Sciences, Professor, Chair of the Board of the NGO "Social Perspective," and inclusion expert.
Speakers emphasized that supporting the resilience of media professionals is not only a matter of occupational well-being, but also a crucial component in safeguarding democratic values, freedom of speech, and the public's access to reliable information.
